Indigenous Round

27 May 2021 by Michael Asensio

This weekend is the NRL Indigenous round.

The theme for 2021 is PASS BACK, MOVE FORWARD, to highlight the importance of understanding and appreciating Indigenous history and culture in order to build a better future.

Did you know that people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background represent
12% of NRL players.
24% of Australian Kangaroos
3% of the Australian population.

It’s also timely to remind everyone that our jersey design pays tribute to the Durramurragal people, who lived in the Ku-ring-gai area for thousands of years.

The artwork also tells the story of the Ku-ring-gai Cubs.

Our teams are represented by the circles, while our players, coaches and parents are represented by the symbols around the circles. The Ku-ring-gai Cubs will always be a place where children, parents, coaches and volunteers can come together to connect, communicate, train and play our great game of rugby league.

OVER 35’s TAG:
We are looking for mums and dads to sign up for the Cubs over 35’s Tag team. It is a great opportunity to get to know some other Cubs parents a little better, while having a load of laughs and getting some fitness!
Sign up now; Go to playrugbyleague.com select Ku-ring-gai Cubs and register as a 35 TAG player.

DATES:
Please note that in the last newsletter, I said that there were no games during the School Holiday (3 July). This is correct for U6-U12’s ONLY. The combined competition (U13 and up) will all have games this weekend.

Enjoy the footy and go Cubs go!
